We are all familiar with the term “stress”. Almost everyone has experienced stress, whether it be a small problem or a big one. College responsibilities, entering adulthood, and many other things can cause stress. If the things that cause stress or stressors are not resolved and are allowed to continue, the situation will become more uncomfortable. In order to be able to deal with the problems that cause stress, we need to recognize our own conditions and how to deal with stress.
In psychology, the term “stress” refers to a condition where a person experiences excessive emotional demands and/or periods that make it difficult for them to function effectively in all areas of their lives. Stress can have positive effects, such as increasing motivation to solve existing problems and to encourage a person to show optimal performance. However, if a person experiences prolonged stress, it can have negative effects on their mood, physical and mental health, as well as their interaction with the environment. Examples of negative effects of stress include insomnia, decreased memory, anxiety disorders, depression, heart disease, high blood pressure, obesity or weight loss. Therefore, there needs to be ways to manage and cope with stress, one of which is coping with stress. Coping is a process of managing or dealing with internal and external pressures that are considered to burden an individual’s capabilities.
Through the seminar held by SAC on Friday, February 24, 2023, we can recognize our own conditions and ways to manage stress. In this seminar, participants were given an explanation of the definition of stress, symptoms of people experiencing stress, sources of stress, the effects of stress, and types of coping that can be done to manage stress.
Hopefully, through this seminar, it can help Biemers in managing all existing problems. Keep up the spirit, Biemers!
