The Artificial Intelligence (AI) industry is rapidly accelerating, presenting various opportunities as well as challenges for many countries, including Indonesia. According to a report from the World Economic Forum, jobs in AI and data are in increasing demand.
Positions like AI Specialist and Data Scientist are two of the most sought-after professions in the current technology trend. Data Analyst and Machine Learning Specialist are also highly desired roles due to their ability to analyze and utilize data to support business and government decision-making.
Artificial Intelligence not only drives advancements in the technology sector but also offers concrete solutions across various fields. AI can help address infrastructure issues, plan more effective social services, and improve the quality of educational resources.
Additionally, this technology can assist governments in formulating more targeted policies, creating safer and more convenient digital markets, and providing better public services. With its vast potential, Artificial Intelligence plays a significant role in shaping the future of the global digital economy.
However, despite these opportunities, Indonesia faces substantial challenges. As the country with the largest digital economy market in Southeast Asia, workforce readiness, regulations governing AI ethics, and infrastructure supporting its implementation remain major concerns. Moreover, the readiness of both industry and public sectors needs to be continually improved to ensure Indonesia doesn’t fall behind in the global competition.
Addressing these challenges, Universitas Bunda Mulia has established the undergraduate Artificial Intelligence (AI) program, becoming the first AI program in Indonesia.
AI learning at UBM focuses on mastering the technologies and methods used to create systems capable of mimicking human thinking abilities to solve industrial problems. This is done by applying AI algorithms and models, including Machine Learning, Deep Learning, and Computer Vision.
