On Friday, December 20, 2024, the 5th semester students of the Hospitality and Tourism study program at Bunda Mulia University Serpong Campus held an Appreciation Parents Gathering (APG) 2024 with the theme “A Homage to Our Pillars”. This event took place at The UBM Sport Hall and was aimed at the parents of Hospitality and Tourism study program students as a form of appreciation for their support during the lecture period.
This activity aims to give honor and appreciation to parents through an event that combines art and culinary from student learning outcomes. In addition, this event provides an opportunity for students to demonstrate their ability to organize professional events, which is a real example of the application of the knowledge they have learned.
The event began with a campus tour session to see the campus facilities, while the parents were warmly welcomed and enjoyed a light meal of canapés and welcoming drinks. Afterwards, guests were directed to The UBM Sport Hall, registered, and watched the opening bumper video to kick off the event. The event opened lively with a modern dance performance from UKM Biefindc and was followed by remarks from Yovania Tanu Arsita and Leandro Leslie Spits Warnars as MCs. The national anthem Indonesia Raya and Mars UBM accompanied the official opening of the event, followed by the screening of the Appreciation Parents Gathering 2024 preparation video. The speeches given by Mrs. Kandi Sofia Senastri Dahlan, MBA, Ph.D. as the Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs of Bunda Mulia University and Janice Aveline Michaela as the head of event added a meaningful atmosphere to this event.

The centerpiece of the event was the exquisitely designed gala dinner. Each course of food was accompanied by an opening video by the executive chef and head chef that provided information and a deep impression for the guests. Music and dance entertainment from Hospitality and Tourism 5th semester students further enlivened the event. During the appetizer session, there was a performance by Elzishilla Aline Yovanca who sang the song Cantik dan Menghujam Jantungku, as well as a performance by Klarissa Lee Arief and Metha who sang the song Photograph by Ed Sheeran. The event was also enlivened by a food parade performed by 3rd semester students specializing in Culinary Arts and Innovation in the main course session. After the food parade, in the same session there was also a dance performance by Suci Sukhawati Permata Sani with the song Rewrite The Stars x This is Me, followed by a stunning performance by Novianti Elisia who sang the song Tong Hua accompanied by keyboard instruments played by Janice Aveline Michaela. Novianti then performed solo by singing Fu Mu Qing. After that, there was a dessert session which was also accompanied by Cherish Angelyn, Valerie Vianney Gunawan, and Cecylia with guitar on the song W.H.U.T. The performance continued with singing by Klarissa Lee Arief, Yessica Hartawan, and Metha with the song Sempurna, and dancing by Suci with the song Speechless. The performance ended with a flash mob, which was done by 25 students of the Hospitality and Tourism study program in 5th semester, and also giving appreciation flowers to parents by all students of the Hospitality and Tourism study program in 5th semester. A special video offering from students of 5th semester was also played as a form of appreciation to parents. The event was closed with an appreciation session for all organizers and crew as well as joint documentation.
Bunda Mulia University hopes to improve the relationship between the campus, students, and parents through this event, and provide a memorable experience for everyone who attends. The purpose of this Appreciation Parents Gathering 2024 is to make parents feel appreciated for their support and trust over the years. This event is also an opportunity for students to showcase their creativity and skills in Hospitality and Tourism, and apply the knowledge they have learned to the real world.
