On Thursday, October 10, 2024, the 3rd semester students of the Hospitality and Tourism Study Program with a concentration in Entertainment and Leisure Management organized a talk show event with the theme “Navigating the MICE World: Global Insights and Strategies”. The event was held offline at The UBM Lecture Hall, Serpong Campus. This event was also mandatory for 1st semester students of the Hospitality and Tourism Study Program. Additionally, students from other study programs were also allowed to register and participate in the event.
The talk show, “Navigating The MICE World: Global Insights and Strategies,” was designed to provide in-depth knowledge and insights into the MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions) industry. This talk show featured various important topics related to the latest trends, marketing strategies, the use of technology, and sustainability in organizing MICE events. The event was hosted by the MCs, Daverick Maison and Vania Aurelya Abigael, who are 3rd semester students of the Hospitality and Tourism Study Program with a concentration in Entertainment and Leisure Management. The opening ceremony included the singing of the Indonesia Raya anthem and UBM’s Mars led by the conductor, Graciella Natasha. This was followed by a welcome speech by Miss Roozana Maria Ritonga, BBA., M.Par., the lecturer for the Event Logistics and Sponsorship course. There was also a performance by the Student Activity Unit, The Vou.
The talk show session was moderated by Delvin Sutejo, a 3rd semester student of the Hospitality and Tourism Study Program with a concentration in Entertainment and Leisure Management. The moderator introduced the speaker, Mr. Defic Leonmart Tabukang, Marketing Venue Manager at Jakarta International Expo, followed by a question-and-answer session with the speaker.
The talk show continued with Mr. Leon sharing his experiences, such as how he entered the MICE industry and the unique and challenging moments he encountered while working in this field. Then, the session moved to a Q&A where participants were given the opportunity to ask questions related to the discussed topics, such as the specific qualifications required to work in the MICE industry, why concerts are considered part of the MICE sector, and how the younger generation can build confidence, particularly in public speaking.
After the Q&A session, a Token of Appreciation was presented to Mr. Defic Leonmart Tabukang by Miss Roozana Maria Ritonga, BBA., M.Par. This was followed by a performance by the Student Activity Unit, Biefindc. Graciella Natasha, the chief organizer of the event, then gave a closing speech, and the event concluded with documentation and attendance.
The talk show, “Navigating The MICE World: Global Insights and Strategies,” was aimed at helping 1st semester students of the Hospitality and Tourism Study Program gain a deeper understanding of the MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions) industry and learn about the essential aspects required in this sector of tourism.
