Tangerang, 4 Juni 2024 – Sotthi Hontu, Namo Buddhaya. Unit Kegiatan Rohani atau UKR Buddha KMB Dhammamitta Universitas Bunda Mulia Kampus Serpong mengadakan acara Fang Sheng dengan tema “Practice Love By Giving Freely” di Toa Pekong Air Tangerang. Seperti yang kita semua ketahui bahwa Fang Sheng merupakan tradisi melepaskan hewan ke alam bebas, dan memiliki makna bahwa kita perlu menghargai setiap kehidupan yang ada dan tidak berhak mengakhiri kehidupan makhluk lain. Dalam pandangan Buddhis, kegiatan ini dapat membuahkan karma baik bagi yang berpartisipasi serta dapat mendekatkan kita pada kebahagiaan yang ditujukan oleh Sang Buddha.
Acara ini diselenggarakan pada Sabtu (01/06) yang dihadiri oleh kurang lebih 22 peserta. Pada kegiatan ini, KMB Dhammamita berkolaborasi dengan Vihara Avalokiteswara dengan tujuan dapat memperluas jaringan dengan komunitas Buddhis di luar kampus. Kegiatan ini juga dapat memberikan kesempatan bagi anggota KMB Dhammamitta untuk terhubung dengan lebih banyak orang yang memiliki minat dan nilai-nilai yang sama, serta memperkuat rasa kebersamaan dan dukungan dalam komunitas Buddhis.
Acara Fangsheng ini dimulai dengan paritta pembuka yang dipimpin oleh Y.M. Bhikkhu Cattaseno. Diantara paritta ini Bhikkhu juga menyampaikan wejangan singkat yang sangat bermanfaat bagi peserta untuk menjalani kehidupan sehari-hari, serta pentingnya mengetahui makna dari Fang Sheng. Acara selanjutnya merupakan sesi fangsheng yang dimulai dengan Bhikkhu dan kemudian dilanjutkan dengan para panitia dan peserta yang hadir. Pada Fang Sheng kali ini, hewan-hewan yang disiapkan adalah ikan lele dan burung. Makna dari melepas lele adalah ‘semoga kita semua mendapatkan perlindungan dari Tiratana’ sedangkan melepas burung memiliki arti ‘semoga kita semua mendapatkan keberhasilan dalam pekerjaan yang kita tekuni’. Oleh sebab itu, kita diajarkan untuk tidak melepas hewan secara acak karena masing-masing hewan memiliki arti dan dampak yang berbeda. Setelah sesi pelepasan hewan, diadakan pula paritta penutup kemudian amisa puja serta pemberian dana makanan.
Semoga acara Fang Sheng “Practice Love By Giving Freely” dapat memberi manfaat bagi semua peserta yang hadir.
